♦ Haschisch, marijuana. || « Perchés sur un arbre qui surplombe le poste américain, quelques jeunes à la dégaine rasta fument négligemment de la ganja (marijuana) dont l'odeur douce se répand tout autour » (Libération, 3 nov. 1983). || « Qu'on l'appelle haschich, cannabis, marijuana ou ganja, il s'agit de la même plante, et il en arrive de tous les pays où il fait du soleil » (la Vie mutualiste, no 89, mars 1984, p. 32).
REM. Le mot, moins courant que ses synonymes, a été emprunté à l'hindi probablement au début des années 70 par les jeunes Européens voyageant en Asie (mouvements beatnik, hippie, etc.). Il ne s'est répandu que plus tard. Il est parfois employé au masculin (le, du ganja).
